Franchising a business is an art in and of itself. And in the art world there’s fakes and then there’s masterpieces. If you are choosing a franchise it’s crucial you know what you are getting. A mistake here could leave you with a hit you’ll have to deal with for years.

So what makes a successful franchise? And how do you find it?

Joel Libava is coined as the ‘Franchise King’, he’s also trademarked it officially. For good reason too, he claims to of figured out the key ingredients to finding that perfect franchise.

The answer is maybe not what or where you would expect. A lot of inexperienced franchisees enter the business world with the money for the franchise, but not the wisdom. Joel Libava advises that candidates look inside and really ask themselves if they are up to the task of taking on a franchise, and that that’s the key, to really know if you want it or not.

“If you want to become a franchisee, you have to lose your ego,” Libava says.
