Trading Hours for Retail Businesses

Within business there are specified hours in which a retailer can be open to the public. In the UK these hours are enforced by law, with penalties incurred on the business if they do not abide by them.
Shop Size and Sunday Trading
The law varies depending on whether the shop is large or small. A small shop is one that that measures up to and including 280 square metres. A large shops are defined over 280 square metres.
Fortunately for small shops, they can open any day or hour. However large shops must close on Easter Sunday and Christmas Day. They can open on Sundays but only for 6 consecutive hours between 10am and 6pm.
If Sunday trading hours are restricted, this must be clearly displayed both inside and outside of the shop.
There are some exemptions however. For example airport and railway station outlets are exempt from Sunday trading restrictions, as well as service stations and exhibition stands.
